Specimen Collection Information
Inpatient: ice not required, if plasma separated from cells immediately.
Outpatient: keep sample on ice and separate plasma from cells immediately.
Specimen Handling:
Mint Green (PST): Centrifuge promptly, refrigerate.
Lavender (EDTA): Centrifuge promptly, remove plasma from cells, place plasma in an aliquot tube, and refrigerate
*If processing is delayed, keep specimen on ice until plasma can be separated from cells.
