Clinical Information

This panel is useful in the evaluation of risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. The reported LDL is calculated using the Friedwald equation, (c)LDL = T CHOL- HDL - (TRIG/5). Note, when triglycerides exceed 400 mg/dL, estimates of LDL using the Friedwald equation are unreliable and will not be reported and a direct LDL measurement will NOT reflex in such cases. Fasting samples are preferred but not required unless directed by the ordering provider.
