Interpretation
Pleural: Pleural fluid cholesterol concentrations > 200 mg/dL are associated with pseudochylous effusions.
Peritoneal: Peritoneal fluid cholesterol concentrations greater than 32-70 mg/dL may suggest malignant ascites.
