Testing Algorithm

If specimen clarity is reported as cloudy or turbid, blood is reported as positive, protein is reported as positive, nitrite is reported as positive and/or leukocyte esterase is reported as positive, then a Urine Microscopic (LAB348) will be performed at an additional charge.

Cautions

Substances/conditions that cause abnormal urine color may affect the readability of reagent areas on urinalysis dipstick reagent strips and may cause false positive or false negative results. 

Insufficient urine volume can produce erroneous results, including falsely decreased urine microscopic  semiquantitative results for WBC, RBC, epithelial cells, casts, and bacteria.
